Day 9

Shirt: Wet Seal
Shorts: Old Navy
Belt: Uniqlo

The shirt is kind of weird as it is longer in the back and shorter in the front. Kind of like a mullet. I decided to tuck it into my shorts and wore a belt, but I felt kind of thick. I am wondering if there is any other way to wear the shirt. It's kind of leotardesque, as the back is scooped. It also is stretchy and there is also the mullet issue. Hmmmm....

On a total side note: I am starting to feel I'm hitting a wall in my creativity. Maybe because it's laundry day and I hate doing laundry. Maybe it's because I am not really that creative. Maybe it's both.

Day 8: Dinner

Dress: Lynn (Shinsaegae: gift from Mom)
Shoes: Korea

Went to dinner at Marcel's with my dad. It was soooo good. They had a foie gras special and it was so divine. So glad Mr. T took me there for my birthday last year. Thank you, Mr. T!!!! =)

Day 8

Shirt: Lacoste
Shorts: Old Navy

This is what I wore when I went golfing and sucked donkey balls. I was really had an off day. =(

This is the new pair of shorts that I got when I went to Old Navy. I justified it by saying I needed golf clothes, and this definitely fit the bill! I'm glad I got them.

Day 7

Top: JC Penney Outlet (Gift from Mom)
Belt: Attached to top
Jeans: F21
Earrings: Korea

You can't really tell, but the shirt is striped, and it's military-esque. Mr. T calls it my "muscle shirt." =) I like it, I'm not sure if it makes me look to masculine.

This is a good segue to my quandary of whether I should take pictures with my clothes. Thoughts? What are the pros and cons?

Day 6

Tank: Merona (Target)
Vest: Sweet Soup (Shinsaegae, Korea)
Jeans: Uniqlo

I was inspired by this Oscar de la Renta look to mix the two stripes, and I like the way it looks. The tank is long and the vest is cropped so it mixes quite well.

This different use of clothing reminds me of is some post (I can't remember where I saw it) where the person said they realised by not shopping that the clothes you have really is about how to be creative with what you have, rather than trying to fill the holes you *think* you have.

In total honesty, I wonder how long I will last until I get antsy to go shopping. It worries me.

Day 5

Shirt: Mossimo (Target)
Jeans: F21
Brooches: Eclectic Threads

I bought these brooches because they were so different and there were two. I wore them a lot when I first got it, but then totally forgot about it (big surprise) and then saw Marie Claire's July 2010 "101 Ideas Under $100" did something similar with a crew neck shirt. So I added it to my shirt. The brooches are really heavy, so I think next time I think I will try and attach it to my bra. Also, I think I'm going to put the brooches higher.

I will say I first regretted buying these brooches; I will admit I felt bad leaving the store without buying anything. Regardless, the more I wear them, the more I liked my purchase. I'm hoping the other purchases I bought from the Goodwill will also be the same.

Day 4

Tunic: Korea
Leggings: Pink Rose

I love leggings. They really help cover my lady bits when clothes are too short. Like this "tunic", which is really a dress. I love this dress, but it really needed something to cover the shortness. It has a belt, but I got lazy and didn't wear it. I love that this dress is military style and that is also has a drop waist.

I'm not a huge fan of leggings that are down to the ankles. I personally think it's too much. These leggings only go mid-calf, kind of like clam diggers. I feel this length has a better silhouette.

Day 3

Chambray Shirt: F21
Skirt: Gap (outlet)
Necklace: H&M
Belt: Uniqlo (It's a men's belt)

Today, my church had Little Debbies for us! Yummmm. I really like this necklace but I didn't know how to style it. I love how it works with this shirt. I also tucked in the shirt under the skirt and I belted it so noone would see the elastic. I normally don't like to tuck in shirts because I feel like I have an eternal food baby, but I looked wide when you saw my profile when the shirt was untucked.

Day 2

Dress: Korea
Shoes: Korea

I went to dinner with Mr. T wearing this dress and these shoes. I was in my pjs for the rest of the afternoon. Lazy lazy. =( But at least the food was good. Yay!

Day 1

Shorts: Old Navy
Camisole: Korea
Tunic: F21

I just bought these shorts from Old Navy and I really love them. They are short, but with a 5-inch seam, it's longer than the normal shorts so it doesn't do that chafing (ahem) that those really short-shorts do. (You know *exactly* what I mean. Don't lie.) I really hate it when I have to "adjust" myself because of the shorts. These shorts do not have that problem. Yay!

Cleaning Out My Closet

My closet is stuffed with clothes. Tons and tons of clothes. And I've given so many clothes away and I still have so much! See that picture? That is just a small percentage of clothes stuffed in my closet.

Here is another picture of my lovely clothes:

See that tag? It's new. It's my golf shorts. My justification is that I'm going to go golfing. Soon. But still, tags are still there.

Is there a good system to recycle clothing? Not just give it to Goodwill, per se, but I would love to be able to get money from it so that I can use that money to buy something new. Kind of like recycling the same cash. =)
Just something I've been thinking.

Thrifting, Part 3

I went thrifting yesterday. First time since the last post. This all started with me popping in at the Goodwill whilst waiting for Mr.T to drop off his car to get tinted. And there I saw it. A new, chocolate brown H&M shirtdress, with tags, in my size, draped in the mannequin. (It looked very similar to this dress. Just brown) And, boy, did I want it. But, I *didn't* get it. Why? Because I was with Mr. T and let's just say he's not as enthused about me buying clothes at the Goodwill. Me? I think it's freaking awesome. So, I decided to go back (yesterday) and get it at a later time. To use my favourite phrase, "you snooze, you lose." And I lost. A very cute dress. I cried a little inside. (OK, maybe a lot)

With the sense of loss, I decided, since I was already there, I would look and see what else was in store for me. I didn't really look very carefully, but I *did* end up with two dresses. One dress was a wee too small in the bust area, but fits everywhere else, so I'm going to give it to my cousin. The other one, is a smidge too big. Which is why I now regret buying them. It seems to me a lot of the times, when I go to the Goodwill, I end up buying clothes that I kick myself in the butt for buying. Does that ever happen to anyone? And how do you stop from feeling that?

After this lovely excursion, I read this article, and after reading post after posts on The Great American Apparel Diet, I got inspired to see how long I can last without spending *any* money on clothes. I have so much and I would *love* to sell them, but I don't know how to do so. I've decided to catalogue all the clothes I wear to see which clothes I wear on a regular basis, which clothes just languish in the closet. My goals is to try and limit the times I go thrifting and shopping. I want to use all the clothes I have and whatever clothes I never wear, I am going to give them away.

To me, it really isn't about saving money per se, but to not be wasteful. I realise how wasteful I am, especially when it comes to my consumption of clothes. I know I don't need so many clothes and my hope is to create a closet that is sparse, but filled with quality clothes. Here's to hoping I can!
